— Working here

The hatch starts at five a.m. on a Monday. By noon, fourteen hundred chicks are sorted into transit boxes and stacked, breed-by-breed, on the dock. Tuesday and Wednesday they go to the post office. Then we clean, recalibrate the setters, and start over.

If that rhythm sounds steady and good, you might fit. We pay above market for the region, offer health and dental from day one for full-timers, and close the office for a full week between Christmas and New Year\'s. The seasonal crew comes back year after year because the work is honest and the team is small enough to know everyone\'s name.
